South-East Asia Cruise - At Sea, April 2010

“What day is it? Saturday?” asked one of the two elderly gentlemen sitting next to me at the bar sipping his second Bloody Mary (still before 10am). The bartender looked a bit confused. “It’s Thursday, Sir.” The two patrons looked seriously concerned. I laughed!
Our second day after boarding Diamond Princess was a day at sea. It turned out that the average age on the ship (crew excluded) was 63! Eric and I were one of three or four couples still in their thirties and forties. And E was the youngest passenger!

Some people were friendly. They looked at E and smiled. They often chatted with him – most likely thinking of and missing their own grandchildren. Others seemed grumpy and unhappy, shooting disapproving glares across the dining hall and swimming pool areas.

By the way, the facilities on the ship were great!

There were only half dozen children on the ship (ages ranging from 3 to 14). The Kids' Club was well manned and well equipped though and E loved it!

With young and friendly Youth Counsellors, E had a blast while Eric and I enjoyed lots of relaxing grown-up time.
